Fat City, New Orleans

Metairie, Louisiana

Destination Guide to New Orleans
The movie, Fat City, New Orleans  takes us back to 1979 in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie’s Fat
City, which  provided a nightly non-stop buffet of discotheques, bars and clubs where legions of
high school juniors, seniors (and some sophomores) took advantage of the liberal drinking
enforcement laws.  Adults could drink at 18 and a good fake I.D. was a passport  to good times during
a period when marijuana & alcohol regulations were very liberally enforced and partying on the dance
floor was expected.

In this coming of age film, Paul spends his nights in the bars and clubs of Fat City and New Orleans’
Bourbon street where drinks and girls never stop coming, the foxy ladies are always ready to disco,
and everything is possible.  However, Paul finds himself in serious trouble when his reckless habits
get the best of him and his high school activities.  In this funny homage to the long past, but not
forgotten “disco versus rock and roll” music high school era, audiences will escape to a familiar and
care free period of suburban New Orleans.
